RECENT CHARITABLE WORK BY THISTLE LODGE MEMBERS
In the last five years, the members of Thistle Lodge raised or donated over $7,250 in funds and did work for various charities and the community, as follows:

* Part of a Queensland-wide fund raising effort by all the lodges in Queensland coordinated by the United Grand Lodge of Queensland (UGLQ), which resulted in $2.2 million for the Leukaemia Foundation Queensland over a five year period. In an earlier year UGLQ had donated $500,000 to set up a Chair of Geriatrics at the University of Queensland.
** Part of a Queensland-wide fund raising effort by lodges and coordinated by UGLQ, which resulted in $300,000 for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research over two years.
*** HIKE is the official charity of the Job’s Daughters Organisation (a masonic-affiliated body for girls).
Voluntary work
- Together with the other lodges which meet at Kedron, initiated, organised and conducted two free half-day ‘Men’s Health Awareness’ seminars for the benefit of local communities, at which 300 and 160 members of the public attended to hear eight medical practitioners and collect brochures covering a range of topics.
- Voluntary grounds maintenance one day per year at the Sandgate Masonic Care Homes.
